Nigerian music star Burna Boy has surpassed four billion total views on his official YouTube channel, reaching another major milestone in his international career.
Channel tracking data reviewed on 10 September 2026 showed that the singer’s official account had recorded more than 4.03 billion views.
The channel also had approximately 7.28 million subscribers and more than 320 uploaded videos.
Historical data indicate that the channel moved from about 3.99 billion views on 31 August to more than 4.02 billion by 2 September, placing the milestone around the beginning of the month.
What the figure represents
The four billion figure is the total number of views recorded across videos uploaded to Burna Boy’s official YouTube channel.
It does not mean that one Burna Boy song has received four billion views. It also does not represent every video on YouTube in which he appears.
Videos uploaded by record labels, collaborating musicians, media organisations, fans and other channels are not necessarily included in the total for his official account.
The figure covers the channel’s music videos, official audio releases, live performances, short videos and other uploaded material counted by YouTube.
A growing international audience
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has built one of the largest international audiences among Nigerian musicians.
Songs including “Ye”, “On the Low”, “Last Last”, “For My Hand” and “City Boys” have attracted substantial audiences across digital platforms.
His international profile expanded significantly following the release of his 2019 album, African Giant. The project received a Grammy nomination and helped establish him as one of the leading voices in the global growth of Afrobeats and African popular music.
In 2021, his album Twice as Tall won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album.
Burna Boy has since performed at major international venues and festivals while collaborating with artists from Africa, Europe, the Caribbean and the United States.
The four billion views reflect the continuing reach of his music beyond Nigeria and the wider African continent.
Claims about a Nigerian record
Several Nigerian and international music publications have described Burna Boy as the first Nigerian and Sub-Saharan African artist to cross four billion views on an official YouTube channel.
However, YouTube has not published an official comparative announcement confirming that ranking.
Trivane News can independently confirm from current channel tracking data that Burna Boy’s official channel has passed four billion views. The broader claim that he is the first artist within a particular region should remain attributed to the publications reporting it unless YouTube releases an official record.
Why the milestone matters
YouTube has become an important route through which African musicians reach audiences without depending entirely on traditional international radio and television networks.
Strong viewing figures can increase an artist’s global visibility, support touring demand and help African music reach listeners in markets where the artists may receive limited conventional media coverage.
For Burna Boy, the four billion milestone provides further evidence of the size and durability of the audience he has developed during more than a decade in music.
