Belgium led France with 13 minutes of normal time left. By the final whistle, France had won 4–1, with substitute Michael Olise involved in three of their four goals.
According to UEFA’s match report, Dodi Lukébakio gave Belgium a first-half lead at the Stade de France on Monday. Désiré Doué equalised in the 77th minute before Rayan Cherki put France ahead four minutes later. Olise scored in the 88th minute and again in stoppage time. France’s four goals came within 14 minutes.
Substitutes turn the match
Reuters reported that Doué, Cherki and Olise all began on the bench. Olise supplied the ball for Cherki’s goal before scoring twice himself. The win was Zinédine Zidane’s first at home since becoming France coach.
France now leads Nations League Group A1 with 10 points, three ahead of Italy, Reuters reported. The Guardian noted that France also beat Belgium 1–0 in Brussels the previous week, when Olise scored the winner.
