Agbara Nla: The Return Reaches ₦170.6 Million After Opening Weekend

Agbara Nla: The Return has earned a reported ₦170.59 million from preview screenings and its first weekend in Nigerian cinemas.

According to Nairametrics, citing FilmX box-office data, about ₦71.4 million came from previews. The film then earned ₦99.15 million from Friday, 2 October to Sunday, 4 October. The ₦170.59 million figure includes both periods, rather than weekend sales alone.

Sales rose through the weekend

Nairametrics reported that the film took ₦15.38 million on Friday, ₦30.07 million on Saturday and ₦53.70 million on Sunday. Those three days accounted for 16,223 cinema admissions. Including the previews, the reported opening total covers 28,468 admissions.

Nairametrics ranked the combined figure as the biggest opening for a Nollywood film outside December. The distributor, Nile Entertainment, also called it the biggest opening for a faith-based film, according to Blueprint. Both rankings use a total that includes preview takings.

A familiar story returns

The film revisits Mike Bamiloye’s Agbara Nla. His sons, Damilola and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, directed the new production, while he returns to play Isawuru. It is showing in Nigerian cinemas.

The opening shows strong early interest. Ticket sales over the coming weeks will give a clearer picture of how long that interest lasts.
