Alex Scott withdraws from England squad before Czechia match

England midfielder Alex Scott has withdrawn from the squad ahead of Tuesday’s Nations League match against Czechia at Wembley.

The Football Association said on Monday, 5 October, that Scott and defender Ezri Konsa had returned to their clubs for further assessment. Manager Thomas Tuchel will prepare for the match with a squad of 22 players.

Scott’s withdrawal follows England’s 7–0 win over Croatia on Saturday. Tuchel said the midfielder had felt some discomfort during that match but had indicated he could continue playing. A later scan showed an injury, according to Reuters.

A setback after his England start

Scott played alongside Elliot Anderson against Croatia and had earned praise from Tuchel, who said he could compete for a place in England’s midfield. His absence removes that option for the final match of this international window.

The FA has confirmed neither how long Scott will be out nor when Konsa may return. Both players’ clubs will assess them, so any firm recovery estimate would be premature. England face Czechia at Wembley on Tuesday, 6 October.
