EDITORIAL ETHICS POLICY

Last Updated: 7 July 2026
At Trivane News, journalism is a public trust.
Veritas per Trivanem – Truth Through Trivane.
Our Mission
We provide verified reporting and meaningful context on Africa, the United Kingdom and the global diaspora. We report facts, not agendas.

  1. Independence
Our journalism is independent. We are not directed by governments, political parties, advertisers, donors or commercial interests.
We do not accept payment for coverage. Any sponsored content is clearly labelled “Sponsored” and is separate from our newsroom.
  2. Accuracy
Accuracy comes before speed. Every story is checked by an editor before publication.
We verify names, dates, figures, quotes and documents. We link to sources where possible. We do not publish rumours as fact. Where something cannot be verified, we label it clearly as alleged, reported or unconfirmed.
  3. Fairness
We seek a right of reply before publishing serious allegations. We present relevant context and avoid misleading headlines. Our aim is to inform, not inflame.
  4. Transparency
    We clearly label:
  • News
  • Analysis
  • Opinion
  • Explainers
  • Sponsored Content
Opinion reflects the author, not Trivane News.
  1. Sources
We protect confidential sources when there is a clear public interest and a real risk of harm. Anonymous sourcing is rare and requires editor approval.

  2. Corrections
When we are wrong, we correct promptly and transparently under our Correction Policy.
    Report errors: corrections@trivanenews.com
  3. Conflicts of Interest
Our journalists must declare any personal, financial or family interest that could affect their reporting. We do not accept gifts, free travel, or favours intended to influence coverage. Staff avoid political activity that could undermine impartiality.
  4. Artificial Intelligence
AI may assist with research, transcription, translation and grammar. Every article is reviewed, verified and approved by a human editor. AI is never a source of fact. AI-generated images are labelled and never presented as real news photos.
See our AI & Generative Content Policy.
  5. Diversity and Respect
We report fairly across all communities. We do not discriminate on grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, gender or sexuality.
  6. Funding and Ownership
Trivane News is independently funded. Details of ownership and significant funding are published on our website to ensure transparency.
  7. Copyright
Our original content is protected by copyright. Short quotations with attribution are welcome. Permission is required for substantial reproduction.
